Last year, the 4th, 5th, & 6th grade students learned about what school and living was like in Ghana, Africa. The class became pen pals with St. Anna's Family Home. During Lent, students organized a fundraiser for the Africa Youth Now Foundation which supports St. Anna's Family Home. Fr. Tony Adawu helped to found the foundation. Last Tuesday, Fr. Tony visited students at St. Patrick School. He celebrated the school mass and visited the classrooms with Kirk and Brenda Haefner who are the president and secretary of the foundation. While in the rooms, Fr. Tony answered lots of questions, shared how the funds from last year's fundraiser helped St. Anna's, and even talked football. Students, teachers, and Fr. Sean were all very excited to have Fr. Tony at St. Patrick's. What a blessing!
Ms. Noelle Reese met Fr. Tony during her time studying at Mount Mercy University where Fr. Tony served as Campus Chaplain and Professor. Ms. Vanessa Milliman also knew Fr. Tony during her time at MMU. Fr. Sean Smith originally met Fr. Tony in Baltimore, Maryland before Fr. Tony relocated to Iowa and reconnected with Fr. Sean.
Last years Lenten fundraiser for AYNF (Africa Youth Now Foundation) raised over $2,700.
We love helping and loving our neighbors all over the world!
